Chapter Facts
The Iota Lambda Chapter of Sigma Chi at the University of Louisville received its charter on March 4, 1989. Even with a young history and a difficult journey to receive a charter, this chapter has worked diligently to gain successes with Sigma Chi and the University of Louisville.
In recent months, the Iota Lambda Chapter of Sigma Chi has won a slew of awards ranging from Fraternity Intramural Champions in 2008 & 2009 to the Interfraternity Council's Fraternity of the Year Award and Highest Chapter GPA (3.3)
Iota Lambda has received the Peterson Significant Chapter Award 18 of the 20 years it has been eligible for the award. This is the highest honor given to an undergraduate chapter, making Iota Lambda one of the top undergraduate chapters in Sigma Chi. The past year out of all 217 undergraduate chapters of Sigma Chi, only 34 were awarded with the Peterson Significant Chapter Award. Iota Lambda was one of the 34 and received the highest Peterson score of any chapter.
In 2008, Iota Lambda was also awarded the Daniel William Cooper Award. This award, named after one of our seven founders, is given to only one undergraduate chapter in Sigma Chi, and designates the chapter displaying the most outstanding scholastic program.
